spotlight doesn't open contact in address book

Spotlight returns the contact I'm searching for but, when I double click on it to open Address Book the contact isn't selected. Instead, it shows all contacts starting with the beginning of the alphabet. So I need to type the name in the Address Book search bar, duplicating the process. Used to work fine

Im running 10.11.6
